Listening Across Time and Disciplines: Integrative Archaeoacoustics and Digital Scholarship

Where:

The Digital Humanities Lab, Herter Hall 19G

Miriam Kolar, Five College Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in Digital Humanities, will present her work on "Integrative Archaeoacoustics." Crucial to scholarship in the humanities, listening––whether a sensory or conceptual activity––engages body with mind, creates contemplative space, and transforms ideas across disciplines. "Integrative Archaeoacoustics" extends digital scholarship beyond an application of computational tools for archaeological data capture, analysis, and archival/preservation, to probe questions of ephemerality and representation, individual perception and social experience.

Light refreshments will be served.
